| Laptop | Aspire 3690 | 945GM | a.) SUSE 10.1 b.) openSUSE 10.2 | a.) Works out of the box. b.) Works using 915resolution. Settings up well described on openSUSE.org. In abbreviation: - as root run: # insserv boot.videobios - in "/etc/sysconfig/videobios" set: VIDEOBIOS_PATCH="yes" VIDEOBIOS_PARAMETERS="3c 1280 800 24" * Works fine with Beryl@XGL. |
| Laptop | TravelMate 4101 WNLCi | 915GM | Ubuntu 6.10 | No problem with using 915resolution |
Apple

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Desktop | Mac Mini (based on Intel® Core Duo) | 945G | Debian | Doesn't work with current release drivers - support is included in the mode setting branch of the X.org git tree. The development team expects to merge this code into the main release in the near future. |
| Desktop | Mac Mini (based on Intel® Core Duo) | 945G | Gentoo |
The 945G graphics is not supported by the default (stable) version of
X driver - the testing version is needed.
The graphics worked very well for me, including OpenGL. However, OpenGL does not work with rotated (portrait) screen. |

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Laptop | Joybook S61 | GMA 950 | Ubuntu Dapper |
It started up after installation with the correct screen resolution and
direct rendering enabled. Dual head works but no OpenGL on the second display. Another issue is strange lines after starting up from suspend/hibernate. |
Dell
| Type | Model | Chipset | Distribution | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Desktop | Dimension B110 | 865G | OpenSuSE 10.1 | Works out of the box |
| Laptop | e1405/640m | 945GM | Ubuntu 6.06.1 | Worked perfectly. Agpgart not needed. 915resolution package was installed previously and no modifications were needed. drm->mesa->xf86 |
| Laptop | e1505 | 945GM | Fedora Core 6 | Automatic configuration during install selected i810 drivers and it appears to
be functioning properly. GLX works fine. Slow glxgears readings. Updated Video bios using 915 resolution to get 1680x1050 for the lcd |
| Laptop | Inspiron 9400 | 945GM | Debian sid (unstable) | You need to install package 915resolution and configure /etc/default/915resolution with parameters MODE=3c, XRESO=1440, YRESO=900 |
| Laptop | Latitude D505 | 855GM | Fedora Core 4 |
The Dell BIOS doesn't provide support for the 1400x1050 resolution
of this machine, so to get the video to work correctly, the
915resolution tool needs to be used.
I have put the following into /etc/rc.local and with this, the native video resolution
of my laptop was supported perfectly:
/usr/bin/915resolution 3c 1400 1050 |
| Laptop | Latitude D820 | 945GM | OpenSuSE 10.2 | Works out of the box |
| Desktop | Inspiron 1100 | 845G | Ubuntu 7.04 | Need to reconfigure with "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg", this error corrected in the upcoming release (7.10). Only the i810 driver works, only with 16bit mode because in 24bit mode the banding of gradients and false colours make this chipset unusable for graphical works. With xorg's intel module only blank screen the result. |
| Laptop | Inspiron 1300 | 915GM | Gentoo ~x86 | Works with the latest xf86-video-i810 (4/25/2007) and xserver packages, no 915resolution needed with latest drivers. |
| Laptop | Inspiron 6400 | 945GM | Fedora 8 | All supported resolutions work out of the box without 915resolution. OpenGL performance: 105FPS in full-window 1680x1050 glxgears. |
| Laptop | Latitude D620 | 945GM | Debian Etch r3 + XFCE4, Ubuntu 7.10 | Works out of the box; perfectly. Excellent support by the community, and Intel. |

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Laptop | Amilo Si1510 | 945GM | Ubuntu 7.04 FeistyFawn | the Upcoming Releae (currently in developement) provides actual 2.0-drivers that also works out-of-the-box in FeistyFawn. 915resolution - Package was installed before (i used i810 before). |
| Laptop | Pi1505 | 950GMA | Ubuntu Edgy Eft | Works out of the box for acceleration, have to install package: "915resolution" and restart X to get widescreen-mode activated. |
Gigabyte
| Type | Model | Chipset | Distribution | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Desktop | GA-965G-DS3 | 965G | Debian | In the BIOS settings, enter the page for "PC Health Status" and set "CPU Fan Control" to "legacy". If it is set to "INTEL (R) QST" then BIOS uses too many memory-type-and-range registers (MTRRs) and doesn't leave enough of them for X, and 3D performance will be about 1/5 normal. |
HP
| Type | Model | Chipset | Distribution | Comments |

| Desktop | D530 | 865G | Debian | Works with X driver i810, 1280x1024x24bpp |
| Laptop | 2400 | 945G | Debian | Works out of the box |
| Laptop | 6320 | 945G | Debian | Works out of the box |
| Laptop | Compaq nc6120 | 915GM | Fedora Core 6 | Works out of the box |
| Laptop | Compaq Presario V2000T | 945GM | Fedora Core 5 | Need to update to latest xorg-x11-drv-i810 after install 1.4.1.3 (not working) =>
1.6.0 (working) Install 915resolution from fedora-extras repo for 1280x760 lcd resolution, uncomment 1280x768 line in /etc/sysconfig/915resolution |
| Laptop | Pavillion DV6365us | 945GM | Slackware 12.0 | Work Perfectly, only need to configure xorg.conf to use i810 driver and 1280 x 800 video resolution. Work with no problem. |
| Laptop | Pavillion DV6365us | 945GM | Debian Etch 4.0 RC0 | Need to install package 915resolution and configure /etc/default/915resolution with parameters MODE=38, XRESO=1280, YRESO=800 set on xorg.conf Option "ForceBIOS" "1024x768=1280x800" at Section "Device" |
| Laptop | Pavillion DV6520ea | GM965 | Gentoo | Runs fine out of the box. No special configuration needed. See http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Gentoo_on_HP_Pavillion_dv6520ea |
| Laptop |   | 855GM | Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) | Resolution was handled fine. Some issues with OpenGL apps, but unsure if that is from the card or the driver. Major problem is that TV-Out seems to be missing. xrandr does not even seem to notice that I have an S-Video port, however, the VGA output works fine. CompizFusion works for the most part, except for some of the animation effects (I know things like fire do not work). |
| Laptop | 530 | 945GM | Debian Etch/Lenny/Sid | Works with xorg-xserver-video-intel without 915-resolution. |
| Laptop | 7010EG | GM965 | Mandriva 2008 | It just works fine out of the box, 3D and everything; though, sometimes, when running 3D applications X server crashes dumping the following line in the log: "[drm:i915_wait_irq] *ERROR* i915_wait_irq: EBUSY -- rec: 8029629 emitted: 8030262". |

| Laptop | Thinkpad T60 | 945GM | Debian lenny | Works out of the box |
| Laptop | Lenovo 3000 N100 | 945GM | Crux 2.3 | "i810" driver works with 915resolution. Latest "intel" driver fixes this and 915resolution is not needed. (xf86-video-intel-2.0.0.tar.bz2) SDL applications in fullscreen causes display corruption and machine locks up |
| Laptop | Lenovo 3000 N200 | GM965 | Debian lenny and Sid (32bit and 64bit) | Works out of the box, but with some problems (see http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14794). The performance is lower than in Windows (tested Vista x64, application Phun - http://phun.cs.umu.se/wiki , also in Linux, Morrowind under Wine is unplayable, under Windows, it seems to be playable - but I'm not sure wheter this is driver and not Wine issue). |

| Laptop | Vaio SZ2HP/B | 945GMA | SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 | Works out-of-box. XGL with Compiz runs perfectly. |
| Laptop | Vaio R600HFP | i830M | Gentoo | Tested with 1.4 to 2.1.1, works very well and stable. Even Compiz-Fusion/Aiglx runs good. Just some problems with opened opengl-windows (like glxgears) and moving the cube. The opengl-window stays where it has been opened, and doesnt move with the cube. The framebuffer works only with vesafb. If I use vesafb-tng, I am not able to switch between a console and the x-server. |

| Laptop | Satellite Pro M100 | 945Gm integrated graphics | Ubuntu 6.06 TLS | Output to DFP: works out of box
Output to external CRT: works out of box Tv-out: Works, with the limitation of no Xv overlapping, (that is, no dual head Xv), and low resolution (if the Xv works for TV-out) at 640x480 (may cause by some CRT out put code bugs), TV0out and LFP can not be displayed in the same pipeline (cofiguration Option "MonitorLayout" NONE, TV+LFP" does not work) DRI: works out of box , but no dual head support glxgears score:(not benchmarking, just taken as a reference): 1248 fps |
| Laptop | Satellite Pro L20-102 | i915GM | Arch Linux 0.7.2 | Worked perfectly. TV-Out: YES ( without PAL ) Clone: Yes with limitations, external clock sometimes too high for external monitors |
